Exotic Transitions in ions (ExTra)

26-27th October, Nordic Center, Fudan University, Shanghai

Exotic processes are important in diagnostics of e.g. plasma, but also as probes of our theoretical models for different ions. They are often associated with long-lived ionic states, which require new and innovative experimental techniques, or are unexpected from standard models, which require a thorough theoretical investigation. This workshop is intended to be a meeting place for different researchers in the very diverse field of Exotic Transitions.

Topics of interest

Hyperfine induced and magnetic-field induced transitions. Long-lived states in ions. Transitions in negative ions, Forbidden and unexpected transitions. Atomic/nuclear interface.

Local information

The workshop will be held at the Nordic Center on the Handan Road campus of Fudan University. For accommodation we recommend/suggest the Fudan Crowne Plaza Hotel (199 Handan Road). This a decent priced (cost around 120 USD/night including breakfast) 5 star hotel, 5 minute walk from the Nordic Center. This hotel, along with cheaper alternatives, can best be booked on booking.com. The area to search on is Wujiaochang. Shanghai has two airports, the most common for international flights in Pudong. The easiest way from Pudong to the Fudan area is by taxi. The journey time is 40-50 minutes and costs less than 200 RMB (around 30 USD), please note that taxi drivers wantcash. The other airport, Hongqiao, is on metro line 10, the closest station for Fudan is GuoQuan Road and is about 20 minute walk from the campus, cost is 5 RMB. A taxi from this airport takes a little over 30 minutes and costs less than around 160 RMB.

The weather in late October is usually very good, sunny, dry and not hot.

If you need an invitation to help with your visa application it is common that the consulates want ”name, birthdate and passport number”. We recommend atourist visa, which basically should only require a hotel reservation and return air ticket.

We are looking forward to meeting you at Fudan University.
